In late 2003, iamstatic was approached by Tekko to create a piece for an exhibition that consists of thirty-nine artists and designers all working under the theme "Future Beautiful".

"Cloud Nine" is a one-minute video, which incorporates the idea of chance, risk, freedom and uncertainty. We wanted to demonstrate that it is not a particular event in the future that we wish to reach, but the branching narratives that are in themselves beautiful regardless of the outcome.

To produce the work we used multiple software tools, primarily Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Director and Adobe After Effects. This allowed us the ability to create a linear piece that uses traditional as well as programmatic animation. Through several techniques, such as random animations in flash, we were able to promote the idea of a branching uncertainty, while maintaining a structured story.
